Gas Laws Lecture 2

Today we covered partial pressure and density equations. This supported my thought that this unit will cover more math than concepts amd I look forward to killing this test!

Gas Laws Quiz

This quiz had a bit more concepts than I expected. Now that I understand those, I imagine the rest of our information on this unit will be math related.

Air Bag Lab

This was one of the hardest yet most fun labs of the year. We were given the job of making a baking soda and vinegar airbag in a ziplock bag, the reat was left up to us. Figuring out the equations to determine how much product we'll need, actually figuring out how much we need, and being able to determine how voluminous our bags were. It was a task but very relieving that my bag passed the requirements!

Gas laws lecture

This unit could definitely cause some issues. There are a lot of things that need to be memorized, mostly the pressure unit conversions. I enjoy that it is mostly math, not conceptual, and look forward to furthering this unit.

Phase Changes Test

I feel very good about this test. I understood all the equations, and there were very few compound questions which made this test much easier. I look forward to seeing this unit again on the final.

Phase changes lecture

Today we had a lecture over phase changes and I feel very good with this topic. It all does make sense to me, but I could see the reverse of endothermic and exothermic being an issue when being looked at from inside the reaction.

Bonding Test

This test wasn't exceptionally hard, however I still found I struggled with electron geometry. I do feel that I did well but I will make that a point of emphasis for the final to study.

Biodiesel Quiz

Today we took the biodiesel quiz. I felt confident but I'm going to have to sharpen up on electron geometry for the test.

Bonding lecture

Today we learned about bonding and how electrons interact. This unit is definitely much easier to understand and I look forward to this class for the remainder of the year.

Testing day!

Today we ran our boats and biodiesel in the gutter and it worked wonderfully! Our boat took a whopping 2.5 minutes but others finished in as little as 11 seconds!

Biodiesel Beta Test

Today we ran our boats usig a mini putt-putt engine. The biodiesel burned very well, our only trouble was fixing our boats so that they would not sink. There are 24 hours before the real test, we're hoping for the best.

Biodiesel lab

Today we made biodiesel out of chick fil a grease. Not only is it environmentally friendly, it smells like chicken sandwiches and I genuinely can't think of anything better 😍

Test review

The week between the quiz and test greatly paid off. I increased my score by 30%!!! The little tricks and a bit of studying I did really helped me out on this unit.

Review Links

Here are some helpful links for this unit!

Quiz review

I'm going to have to take a loss here because my confidence did not transfer into a good grade. I full heartedly was expecting to do much better and however I did understand the material, I made simple mistakes in understanding the question that my teacher did help me understand afterwards.

Periodic trends lecture

Today we learned about periodic trends. Although it was not that difficult of a lecture it just has a decent amount of things to remember. Also electronegativity can become confusing and backwards uf the wording is not paid close attention to in the questions.

Flame Test Lab

Today we conducted an experiment testing and observing the different flames produced by various different chemicals. Here's what it looked like!

Acid Base Test Review

Well, it's over... This was genuinely the most difficult topic I've ever had in any subject in school ever, and let's just hope everything is uphill from here.

Unit quiz

On friday we took the quiz for this unit and I'm proud to announce that I'm more confident about this than I have been all year! Stay tuned for more good news to come :)

Molar Mass of Unknown Acid Lab

Yeaterday and today we have been running the molar mass of an unknown acid lab. It's actually been quite a fun lab to run and to experiment with the titration technique.

Acetic Acid Lab

Yesterday and today my class has been conducting the Acetic Acid Lab. I will not be taking part due to the fact that I missed class yesterday for a school function and will be missing tomorrow because I will be in Chicago for hockey. They are going to be finding the unknown concentration of Acetic Acid in vinegar. It did seem like a fun lab to participate in but I did not find that it would be a good idea considering I will be missing 2 of the 3 days of the lab and my would-be partner missed the first day as well.

Acid Base Lecture

Today we took notes and learned about different Acid Base conversions. If I'm being honest, the ICE method is the most difficult type of problem I've ever had to solve. I won't begin to try to explain them because no one deserves to have this issue in their life.

Vitamin C lab day 2

Today we are redoing the experiment with another standard to find an average of vitamin c concentration in the juices. Then we are going to use the data to rank the juices from most abundant amount of vitamin c to least.

Vitamin C lab

Today we condicted an experiment to find the concentration of vitamin c in different household juices

Murder Mystery Lab

In lab this past week, we conducted the Murder Mystery lab. The point was to determine the type of chemical used and molarity of said chemical in order to determine who the murderer was. When my partner and I conducted this experiment, there was a problem with how we set up our materials so when our teacher went to help us, we lost a large part of our percipitate. This completely nullified our results because our molarity was outside the range possible for any of the suspects.

Murder mystery lab

We did a lab in class today to determine who the murdered was in a hypothetical crime scene. This is a picture of what it looked like before we found the weight of the percipitate.

Aqueous Solution lecture

Today we learned about aqueous solutions and how to find molarity. It shouldn't be too difficult of a subject but I could forsee there being issues with knowing what numbers to put into the formulas.
